Creation in the Mourning

Creation in the Mourning is a documentary film about a local queer artist, Benjamin Cahoon, and his process of making. The film follows his interaction with faith, identity development, and creation, emphasizing the inevitable destructive nature of making.

Our documentary was selected to premiere at the Oregon Documentary Film Festival, where it won Best Oregon Documentary, as well as the McMinnville Film Festival, where it won Best College Film.

After push back from the school’s board of directors and a difficult battle, our film made its debut premiere at the George Fox Film Festival. That evening, the film won awards for Best Cinematography, Best Documentary, and the People’s Choice Award.

Recently released for public viewing, watch the film below.
